The Copper Streak Trail
A good-humored old boy named Pete Johnson and young Stanley Mitchell are hoping to develop a copper mine but claim jumpers have other ideas. Stan is framed for a crime, and Pete heads back east to search for the truth. This is an old-fashioned western and an adventurous book about a treasure hunt.
Stepsons of Light
A Western action thriller but with much more depth. Stepsons of Light is a mix of cowboys, horses and a ranch house but it also progresses into a story about a stolen mineral claim and murder. When a cowboy is accused, he decides to defend himself in court but that is only the start of this action adventure tale.
About The Author
Nebraska-born Eugene Manlove Rhodes (1869–1934) was nicknamed the "cowboy chronicler" for his lively Wild West cowboy books. He moved to New Mexico in 1881 and by 16 he was an accomplished horseman and road builder. Rhodes read voraciously and was mostly self-educated. He later studied at the University of Pacific in California and wrote for the college newspaper. He married and moved to Apalachin, New York where he published seven novels. He returned to New Mexico with his wife and they lived in Santa Fe and Alamogordo. In 1930, Rhodes's health was failing and he moved to Pacific Beach, California. He was buried in the San Andres Mountains.

A pretty good read, all in all, but I thought he got a bit bogged down in places. This was my first E.M. Rhodes book and I had been told that he was an authentic cowboy, prior to his writing. I didn't find his writing any more "authentic" than other popular western writers. I have a couple more of his books, so I will have a better idea when I have finished those.Product details

The Copper Streak Trail Two Classic Westerns edition by Eugene Rhodes Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Timeless western stories by a gifted writer - a man who knew the people, loved the country and lived the life. No other writer has captured so well the speech and the character of the often flinty, often twinkle-eyed men who lived on the rough edges of the New Mexico frontier.
Book has interesting characters but the plot is buried under dialog that is often so ponderous and convoluted the plot vanishes. It's still worth reading because the author had firsthand knowledge of the time place horses etc and wrote with accuracy.
Didn't care for this book. Quit reading it and deleted it from my . I found it very boring.
I am sorry but I could not finish this boring book. I could not get any sense out of much of it.
fun
Just OK. Didn't grab me.
All people dream of finding treasure in the west but few due. Maybe this story is more about human nature good and bad. Good story.
